The following industry thought leaders have kindly agreed to blog on the rplan site:
Having worked in financial services for over 12 years, mostly as an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA), it never ceased to amaze me the extent that some providers and advisers would try to hoodwink their customers in pursuit of a fat profit. Worse still, a lot of customers appeared to fall for it!
It's this frustration with the industry that prompted me to build the Candid Money site to share the financial knowledge and experience I've built up over the years with consumers. I believe it's unique in being the only truly impartial financial guidance website.
After graduating from Leeds University with a Degree in Economics and Economic History I joined Sun Life which provided an excellent grounding in the life, pension and investment industry.
I joined Bradford & Bingley in 1990, where I held a number of product and marketing roles and latterly had responsibility for all financial services product development and pricing. In addition, I was Investment Fund Manager for Bradford & Bingley’s PEP and ISA Discretionary Management business where I controlled in excess of £700m of clients’ funds.
In 2004, I left to create Rayner Spencer Mills with two other directors which has grown to be a leading investment research consultancy supporting over 5000 IFAs.
David Norman aka DAN
Our aim was to build a fund manager they way customers would want it.
I worked with a small team of like-minded individuals set-up TCF Investment in 2009. Having each spent more than 20 years working at CEO level for a range of specialist financial services companies we became increasingly concerned with the poor way that investors were treated. Costs have risen and become less transparent, risks of increasing complexity passed onto investors, and sound investment principles discarded and replaced by trendy schemes that enrich the manager rather than the customer.
TCF Investment use simple, proven investment thinking combined with rigorous risk management and a passionate dislike of costs to deliver great long term products for investors of any size. And the founders have most of our own money invested in the funds – our money is where our mouth is!
